Hello, ladies! I’m super excited to present today’s interview with a personal stylist – Charlotte Olsson Bauer. Charlotte combines her expertise of 20 years worldwide experience in the fashion industry, with her gift of helping women find their style, see their beauty, self worth and strength from within. So, without further ado, let’s dive in!
Oksana Belo: What essentials should be in every chic woman’s wardrobe?
Charlotte Olsson Bauer: There are way too many to list, so here are a few!
A great everyday tote/handbag
A little black dress
A pair of jeans that fit you very well
Every day tees
Sweater, preferably cashmere
Versatile pieces of jewelry
O.B. What’s the easiest way to take an outfit day to night?
The easiest way, is to switch out shoes, add a clutch and switch out a sultry lipstick. Think black dress with a ballet flat and tote, then switch to a colored high sandal, add an evening clutch with texture, lipstick and voila – done!
O.B. Your favorite accessory that works overtime?
A now vintage brass cuff that my parents bought for me at a flea market in the Canary Islands when I was about 16 years old. It is a statement piece that just does not get old!!!
O.B. I love how you layered your necklaces, can you please give us some tips on layering jewelry.
There is no specific method for layering jewelry except for creating interest with shapes of pendants and try to get them at varying lengths. I like to layer with the same tones, silver on silver, with maybe a pop of gold or color. Most jewelry chains come with a length adjustment, to make it easier for layering. I also like to mix vintage pieces with designer and high street… as not only is mixing styles fun, but also makes it unique to you.
O. B. What jewelry looks best with V-neck, boat-neck, scoop-neck, and what body shapes it complements the most?
This is an entire blog post in itself but here are few tips! It really does depend on your personal style, whether you like delicate or statement pieces but here are a few guidelines;
Crew neck –a bib style
Scoop neck– shorter pendants with volume or layered pieces
Halter neck with deep V – delicate pendants
Strapless – choker
Turtle neck – longer chains or bold pendants
Boat neck – Longer beads
O.B. What are the most chic color combinations for summer and/or year around?
This season’s colors are serenity and rose quartz, dreamy soft pastel hues that work so well together and are a great combo. For those of you that love bold brights, I am loving blue with turquoise and buttercup yellow with fiesta/coral color.
Floral print and stripes, pattern on pattern are a way to make a great statement.
I’m a big fan on tone on tone whatever the season; white on white, black and navy, which get more interesting when you add textures with the fabrics. I like to then add one of the trend colors in my accessories to make outfit pop!
O.B. I love combining textures. What are the most luxurious, interesting texture combos, in your opinion?
I graduated with a degree in Fashion and Textile design, so my love for fabric, textures, interest, composition and luxury started way back in the day. A combination of two or more fibers within the same yarn; say a wool with metallic flecks, paired with a silk – a fabulous example of this is Chanel!
I love mixing different knits, textures, depths together in an outfit, in the same color hues – creates interest and the more you look, the more you see. I also have a love for Vintage Kimonos; rich silks, cotton and silk embroidery and always love to put something luxurious with DENIM which I find is always a fun, sometimes unexpected combination.

O.B. What does having a great style mean to you?
Style is about the essence of YOU! It combines your energy, spirit & inner beauty. It means creating looks that fit in with your personality, lifestyle, body shape. It’s about connecting the inside to the outside, in colors that lift you up, in fabrics that feel good and it is truly about creating an aesthetic translation of the core individual and being yourself.
We are all unique and style is about celebrating that uniqueness, it is not about following trends or necessarily wearing designer clothes. Having a great style that makes you feel fabulous can have such an effect on your confidence, self esteem and overall life and business success! When you look good you feel good!
O.B. What are your favorite style resources?
There are so many but here a few of my favorites!
Pinterest – great resource for all!
And so many more..
